The drivers we noticed during testing on Thursday night, James Abela and Thomas Bale were less rapid in the sweltering heat at mid-day on Friday. During the first timed session, they were 10th and 12th respectively, while the Norwegian Martin Ellegard took pole with 55” 823 from the British George Russell 2/100 back and then at 9/100 Alex Gill. 2/10 later, the Portuguese Bruno Oliveira was 4th in front of the Swiss Felix Hirsiger and the Dutch Martijn Van Leeuwen. Paolo Besancenez, the top French was 9th by 0.380” then Adeline Prudent 11th by 0.518″.
The Russian Alexander Maslennikov set the fastest time of the second group with 55” 794, which gave him pole position in the category. Joonas Lappalainen, from Finland, came in second by 0.121” from the surprising leader Theodoros Zaharelis of Greece and the Indian Arjun Maini. The French driver Erwan Julé was hit by a competitor and his kart suffered a lot. He finished seventh, but further up than expected in terms of time.
The overall pole went to Maslennikov ahead of Ellegard and Russell, 4th was Gill and Lappalainen 5th.
